But can someone explain why this jerk didn't just kill himself instead of his entire family? Merely killing himself would have left a life insurance policy (someone in that line of work is highly unlikely to not have such a policy) and his family would have been fine.

Okay so imagine he killed his family to avoid dealing with the pain or whatever --why kill the 19 year old fullbright scholar? Hello? Even better idea: How about toughing it out a couple years, then living off the kid? And why the fuck are you living in a monstrous house in a gated community in the SF Valley if you're broke? Hello? Small apartment, anyone?

I understand there is a financial crisis and people are sad, but wtf, this is part of how it happens: living WAY beyond one's means. And yeah I know he just lost his job a couple months ago. But clearly he wasn't doing great even before that, or he'd be BUYING a house in that economy, not renting.

I'm not entirely conservative. Whichever dipshit thought up those stupid ARM mortgages should be taken out and shot at dawn by Dick Cheney personally. That really fucked a lot of good honest hard working people. Still, there are limits to even my sympathy.

No. A woman who, amongst other things, supports the state getting to decide medical care for women is not what a feminist looks like. Rather, this is what a woman trapped by capitalism and the bullshit ideology that work/career is more important than taking time to manage your family properly looks like.
