but you gotta be fucking kidding me.

CNN has discovered "Male Post-Partum Depression."

I think my favourite part is when they say half of men with depressed partners are also depressed. Well no shit. You ever been around someone with depression? It's not exactly a trip to Dave and Buster's.

Let's see. They don't carry it nine months. They don't give birth. They don't breastfeed. They get to put up with their partner's pregnancy drama (even the nicest women are at least partial pregnancy drama queens). Then they don't get laid for six weeks and there's this new screaming creature in this house that doesn't allow them much sleep. And let's not forget the deep dark secret you practically gotta be a ninja to get a man to admit: he's jealous his partner is getting all kinds of attention and all too keenly aware of the fact his contribution to this whole thing is rather insignificant. I think being bitchy and depressed, perhaps even needing some anti-depressants to snap out of this kind of situation is pretty normal.

And no, I am not sure why putting a label on it somehow just unhinges me, but yes, for some reason it does.

I am not sure I buy the hormone thing (supposedly testosterone goes down and estrogen up: this apparently is in no way due to being depressed, stressed out, and not getting laid) either. It just makes very little sense to my scientific mind.
