omg I am so excited!
Mar. 1st, 2009 12:28 amI've been planning our Amazing American Adventure and mapping it out and planning the lessons and activities involved for each leg of the journey and I CANNOT WAIT! I never thought I'd like homeschooling, but this is awesome. Maybe it's the whole "home" part I can't stand. I'm finding all sorts of historical and modern places to go and visit and places to learn stuff and things to see and do and WOW this is just gonna be great. We're going to film the whole thing and hope to have a 5-10 minute segment for every place we go. Right now we're having a hard time keeping our damn mouths shut and not letting Kay know everywhere we're going.
We discovered the KOA Kamping Kabins, which will be perfect for our needs and waaaay cheaper than a hotel, but not camping, which my husband would rather eat his child than do. However, we *are* going to do hotel in Vegas because I've been wanting to stay at Circus Circus for years, and I am not camping near Vegas in freaking July.
My big problem now is transport. I am finding the one way rental fees are outrageous. Rental for a regular SUV for a month is like %700something, which is fine, we can deal, but most places are charging a $1000 charge to drop it off somewhere other than the pickup place! OUCH! I looked into auto driveaways, but we really need something for four-five weeks starting in Orlando and ending in LA or SD. Why is this so difficult? Gah. I really do not understand the monstrous "drop off elsewhere" fees. Just makes no sense at all!
Tonight is Nuit Blanche and I feel stupid I didn't know there were fun kid things to do. I feel like waking Kay up to go sledding at 2am. And I don't like sledding. But sledding at 2am sounds cool.
