what happened to the Dionne Quints was considered exploitation, and the women later received compensation from the government....
but the Duggars, Jon and Kate (my god that woman is a raging BITCH. My husband would probably drag me by my ear into the other room if I talked to him like that, and I am a BRAT) plus 8, the Roloff's, this is all... entertainment.
I mean really how come going to watch the quints play for half an hour twice a day was just some huge human rights violation, but broadcasting the Gosselin kids taking the first craps is..... education?
I am not insinuating they are violating their children's human rights or something. I'm just... confused that when the state (the Dionne girls were taken and made wards of the state unfairly, although since when they went back to their parents their dad started molesting them it was probably a good thing) pimps kids out, this is ...bad, but when parents do it? No biggie.
Please discuss.
Thanks.

Date: 2007-10-15 11:40 am (UTC)In today's time, which are kinda different, one can assume that the parents knew what they were getting into (the Dionna ones didn't really) and they can call off the camera at any time.
FWIW, I still think parading their kids on those shows is explotation anyway. :D
We often joke here about pur family being on tv, but if we had the chance and anyone in the family didn't want to do it, then we wouldn't.
It seems like way back when, the Dionnes didn't really have a say in *anything* really.

You know at first I read your entry wrong and I thought you were saying Michelle Duggar is a raging bitch ;) She may well be for all I know but I was thinking, "How could you tell?"
