Y'all know I am anti- corporal punishment but I think that kind of language might bring me to slaps.

See, I remember you going on a rant in my journal about how you don't get the anti-swearing people and that's a class thing and so on. At that, I guess I figured you weren't a language snob. ;)

So, in short, I'm picturing a scene in which a child of yours cusses repeatedly and it all rolls right off your back, but then at the first misuse of 'yo'...

LOL you got it. Kay is allowed to swear all she wants if it is used in context (we discuss context) but the second I hear her using it elsewhere, she is no longer allowed to.

I confess I went back on this deal this summer. She was at daycamp and there were two kids there who spoke English fluently, her and a little boy. They would speak to annoy the teachers but then one day the kid decided to start bugging her. Things got heated and he said "at least I don't have a retard for a brother" to which she whipped around and said "I'd rather have a retard for a brother than an ASSHOLE like you" loud enough for everyone to hear.

And yes the camp leaders may well have been francophones but uh they got the context. I picked her up and was made aware. I declined to discuss it with her, and instead talked to her male influences who agreed with me she did nothing wrong. We reminded her not to use that language in public and suggested alternate insults, such as noting he was smart as a box of hair.
