I am getting a new computer.

It's between a macbook and a macbook pro.

(no not a macbook air. that's why.)

I can't decide if I want the 13inch black jacked up to 2GB of memory, bringing it to a total of $1814 CDN prior to the coop discount (I love you husband!) or if I want the 15 inch macbook pro which already comes with 2GB of memory and rings in at $2199 CDN prior to the aforementioned discount.

I don't want a PC thing. No. Just stop. Don't bother.

Based purely on price, and I confess, the "girl factor" of the fact I dig the black case, I think going for the black is a no-brainer. But, the pro is only $350 more. So I am wondering if I should just choke and do it.

But why?
Black has a bigger hard drive.
I don't care about the difference between 13 and 15 inches.
I use it for photoshop, indesign, illustrator, various ms office apps, websurfing, listening to music.

It will be used as my personal main machine, now that Lillith 2 has been fully converted to a desktop.

Is there some huge reason I am missing of why I should go for the pro?

Please advise.

I don't see a reason to go pro.

I have a pro -- because that is what the x bought for me. But really I dont see anything oh so special about it.

I do love it though. (How is that for mixed messages and not really saying a thing! lol )

Get the pro if you are doing graphics

Pro --> Dedicated graphics processing unit with its own video ram

Macbook--> steals video memory from RAM integrated into motherboard chipset.

+better Superdrive
+ better ergonomics

but keep in mind I am not going to be doing a LOT of graphics. I will maybe be using adobe CS stuff like, once a week if that?

My philosophy is that if its your primary work machine, then go for the one that can handle what you might throw at it, rather than wait for the instance when you curse your marchine for being too weak to do what you need

I doubt Adobe CS will be affected one way or the other by the lack of a dedicated video graphics card. Just make sure you get lots of RAM. And... don't buy it from Apple because it's a ripoff. Get it on your own and install it; it's easy. Having a dedicated video card would help you if you were working on video or 3D stuff.

Unless you're doing something that requires special hardware or an unusually large amount of memory, I would stick with the MacBook. And don't fall for their we'll-make-em-pay-more-for-black scam. Get the cheaper 13-inch white one.

I have a macbook and it does everything I ever need it to. I'm also not big into the graphics. I love the size of it. It's easy to carry around. I haven't upgradeed the ram and I really need to. However, I still function quite well without the extra ram.

Is it possible for you to check both of them out to see if you prefer the 13 or 15 in?
