To wit, I told my husband "I will celebrate your day for you when you're gone!" (he will be out of town).

He looked at me blankly. "But it's not Canada Day." (His birthday is Canada Day).

"St. Patrick's?"
"My name is Patrice. Not the same."

They're stupid to go protesty on a day when Montreal cops ignore open container laws and the liquor stores sell Jameson hand over fist to rowdy crowds.

You have to understand though, these are retards, not The Real Voice of Francophonerie in Quebec. I know lots of hardcore separatist types and they all think this and the McKibbins thing (er, as it was reported, which was slightly different than reality) is total bullshit. And even I am playing into my own hardcore belief; that the majority of linguistic tensions in this province are boogeymen hyped by the media when they have nothing else to write about. I mean really, outside of the media do you ever hear people complain? Because I don't. It is always started by some article in either the Gazette or JdM.
