Apparently, just shouting "POLICE!" means we should surrender when people break in

This drama is going on in Montreal now.

Cliff's notes: plain clothes cops bust down a door in a drug/organized crime raid, occupant fires back thinking he's under attack, a cop dies, he's on trial for murder.

Apparently, the alleged fact the cops shouted "POLICE!" before entering meant the occupants should have said "oh okay" and walked out with hands up.

If this goes down, I'm predicting all kinds of home invaders insisting they are cops. Yes, they could go get uniforms now and pretend to be cops, but this will make it much more simple.

I'm of the mind that if cops are busting down doors, they should be in uniform.

For the record, they also had badges, Laval police caps, and the word "POLICE" on their backs. Though the case can be made that their identities weren't clear when they were storming a house in dark clothes and guns pointed forward, they weren't exactly in plain clothes either.

that's still not a uniform. You can get a badge at any Toys R Us that looks fairly realistic.
