JOHNSTON, R.I., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Police in Johnston, R.I., say a woman left her two pit bulls with their mouths taped shut without food or water while she gave birth to her son at a hospital.

Because I know when I give birth, the first thing I want greeting my newborn (and me while I'm still bleeding like a geyser) is a pair of thirsty hungry pit bulls.

I cannot figure out why someone wouldn't get someone to come see their dogs. Animals without food or water, for two days, when I'm walking in with a newborn baby? I'm a dog lover, including large and bully/bad rep breeds, and wow to me that sounds like asking them to eat the baby :-/

Why don't we have strict abuse laws like that? I fucking hate the animal abuse laws in this lame dog-hating country...
